Kryptolebias is a genus of South American plant spawning killifish.  They are unique in some species are hermaphroditic (lay viable eggs with a female/male fertilization).  Until 2011, Kryptolebias were included in Rivulus until Costa’ compete revision of the genus.  J.H Huber refuted Costa’s work and moved all of Costa’s genera back into Rivulus.  There are a number of opinions out there and some prefer to maintain them in RivulusThere are currently 8 species in KryptolebiasThey are extremely rare in the hobby with only Krp. marmoratus and Krp. occellatus are in the hobby.

They are found in South America and around the Caribbean into Florida.
